Gathering Together

Did you Think to Pray

Ere you left your room this morning
Did you think to pray?
In the name of Christ our Savior
Did you sue for loving favor,
As a shield today?

O how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day
So when life seems dark and dreary
Don't forget to pray

When you met with great temptation
Did you think to pray?
By His dying love and merit
Did you claim the Holy Spirit
As your guide and stay?

When your heart was filled with anger
Did you think to pray?
Did you plead for grace, my brother
That you might forgive another
Who had crossed your way?

When sore trials came upon you
Did you think to pray?

When your soul was bowed in sorrow
Balm of Gilead did you borrow,
At the gates of day?

Daily prayer is the gateway to God the Eternal Father, through His precious Son, Jesus

Christ.  When you go to bed and arise in the morning, do you kneel in prayer with your

spouse and/or family? Is it the focal point of your life? Are your hopes and thoughts for the safety and welfare of others, or is it just give me, give me, give me? Mary A. Pepper Kidder 1820 - 1905 wrote these wonderful lines because her heart was full of concern for Christians everywhere. Do we today as members of the human family, no matter what religion, sect, or creed, take the time to ask God for His blessings? Think of the times when you were at your lowest point. Was it through prayer that your soul found the relief that it so needed? Prayer is the only way that we can receive the blessings of the Holy Spirit, to help guide us through these times of uncertainty and doubt. Through the ages great men have prayed for the welfare and betterment of mankind, the people in their charge, and pathway that they should take in life. Do you pray for your national, local, and church leaders? When your friends and family ask for your faith and prayers in their behalf, do you turn away, or fall on your knees, pleading with the Father for the blessings that they have asked for? Never in the history of man and womankind have we needed this faith and actions as we do today. There are wars and rumors of war all over the earth. Now is the time that we must take up our Standard of Liberty which should be: In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children, and make it our standard to the world. Please search your heart for the strength to ask God to bless you and the people and things in life that mean the most to you.  Remember this always: When your soul was bowed in sorrow Balm of Gilead did you borrow, at the gates of day? May the Father of us all, grant unto you the righteous desires of your hearts; is my humble prayer for us.

Psalms 5:3, & 12 3 My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer to you, and will look up.  For you, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor will you compass him as with a shield.
