Gathering Together

Tues.

     Anger

Thank you for all the times that you have put up with me when I was angry.  It's so easy to let feelings and emotions get the best of me, especially when I am supposed to be a mature Christian.  The Bible says, “Do not be hasty in the spirit to be angry; for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.”  Ecc 7:9 (KJV).  I do not want to be counted as a fool in Your eyes.  You never said that we won't feel anger.  It is just that we cannot allow ourselves to have a screaming fit every time we are hurt or do not get our way.  Help me to develop the fruit of the Spirit of self-control.  Help me not to be overly sensitive.  I can become offended easily and then lash out at the one who made me angry.  I know I won't always get my way when I pray for something and it does not turn out the way I planned.  Help me not to become angry, even with you, Lord.  Sometimes if I am not careful, I can hold onto resentments.  Help me to control my mouth when I am angry.  The Bible says, “be angry, yet do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”  Eph 4:26 and Vs. 31 (NKJV).”  I thank you, Lord for Your guidance in this area.  Through Jesus’ name, amen.
