Trash to Treasure

There is a chameleon-like Old Testament prophecy - Zechariah! Judgment, justice and victory are spoken of by God. This book opens and closes with His tenderness. Tenderness brackets this difficult prophecy.

“On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the Lord's house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar. Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the LORD Almighty." (Zech 14:20-21)

Consider for a moment the items in these verses - bells, bowls, pots and horses.

The pot and the bell are unable to elevate themselves, yet God does this willingly and easily.

God makes the valueless valuable and the menial meaningful. God adds value by calling the valueless into His service. He does what none other can or will do. That which has been trash becomes treasured.

He identifies the identifier of the cattle as His. That which has no self-identity now does. He raises the low to high tasks. The polluted He makes pure!

This is His heart of tenderness. He raises the ignoble to nobility. His elevations will always deliver both dignity and purity.

To conclude then with our beginning at
Indiscriminate Love - this God of love without change, of gentleness and kindness to you, still desires to bring release, refreshment and repair to your life each day. His heart is full of rich tenderness for you, it always has been and will be forever the same.
